Warning!: Plex Home Theater is deprecated and no longer in development. We have focused our efforts on the newer Plex Media Player app instead and recommend moving to that app.
System Requirements vary dependent on what you’re going to do on the HTPC. Check the Getting Started section for the base requirements. If you intend the HTPC to run more applications than the Server and Plex Home Theater, you should take that into account if you’re building or purchasing new equipment.

Plex Home Theater is designed to be used with a Remote Control (or keyboard). Remotes come in all shapes and sizes but the more common ones are:
- Harmony, or other Windows Media Center compatible remote
- Apple Remote for Macintosh computers like iMac, Mac Mini
Plex Companion is able to remotely control Plex Home Theater. This means that any Plex App on your mobile device can act as a remote control. A limitation here is that Plex Companion can’t launch Plex Home Theater or control other non-Plex apps on the HTPC.
