Discussions is a feature that allows users to start a discussion (or conversation) on any movie, TV show, season, or episode page. There is no rating involved, you can create as many discussions per piece of content as you want, and they’re 100% public.
Requirements
Writing or participating in discussions requires a verified email. Your email is likely already verified during account creation, but if for some reason it is not, you can send a verification email from your account page.

Starting and participating in Discussions
While viewing discussions are available in all of our modern Plex player apps listed above, starting or commenting on discussions is not available in our TV based apps. Please review our community guidelines before participating. You can start or participate in multiple discussions per media item.
To Start a discussion
- Go to the details page of a movie/show/season/episode that you want to discuss and find the Discussions row and hit the Start a Discussion button. (If some discussions exist, scroll right to the end of the row to access the button.) The option will also appear in the More menu above the item’s summary.
- Add a title and body of your discussion and check the box if the body has any spoilers.
Participate in a discussion by clicking on the discussion to view the full discussion and at the bottom there is a field to add your own comment.
Editing, Deleting Discussions
From the contextual More menu ( ︙ ) the discussion starter can edit or delete the discussion (the entire discussion including all comments will be deleted).
On TV apps Editing is not available but you can delete.
Commenters can delete their comment.
Viewing Discussions
Discussions will appear in;
- Detail pages for movies, shows/series, seasons, and episodes
- Account Profile Pages where the account started the discussion
- Activity feed you will see the start of discussions you or those you follow have started
Reporting Discussions
All user generated content is moderated by an automated system but it can’t catch every violation. Discussions and comments on discussions can be reported by user accounts for violations of community guidelines.
Use the More menu ( ︙ ) of the discussion or comment and choose Report Discussion or Report Comment. You will then get options on what you would like to report about it. The report will get sent to a moderation queue.
Hiding Discussions
If you do not want to see discussions on media detail pages you can disable them there by going to Settings>Experience>Discussions on Detail pages and toggle it off.
Discussions Privacy
Discussions are public. They are viewable by all full Plex accounts (not managed or guest accounts) on detail pages they were created on. If someone can view your profile based on the Account Visibility privacy setting then they will see the discussions you started or participated in there.
FAQs
Q: Where can I see all of the Discussions I’ve created?
A: On your profile page!
Q: If Discussions are public, but my profile is private… who can see my Discussions?
A: Great question. Anyone will be able to see the Discussions you have created as long as they are browsing the content you made the Discussion on. No one will be able to go to a private profile page and see your content without you adjusting your privacy settings.
Q: Can I edit my Discussion?
A: Yes, just like Reviews you can edit your Discussion after you have created it.
Q: Can I delete my Discussion?
A: Yes. If you delete your Discussion it will remove any activities it created and all the comments and reactions it might have received.
Q: How many Discussions can I create per title?
A: As many as you want within reason. Please don’t spam.
Q: Can I share a link to my Discussion on [insert any other platform here]?
A: Yup! Hit the share button and you can send a link to your friends or any other place you’d like to share it.
Q: Can I limit who interacts on my Discussion?
A: No. The only limitation is that users have to have a verified account to participate.
