Adding, Removing, and Updating a Channel

Channels for your Plex Media Server are managed using the Plex Web App.

Adding Channels

To add a Channel to your Server:

  1. Open Plex Web App
  2. Choose Channels in the sidebar
  3. Click Install Channels button
  4. Select a Category if needed, then click a Channel to install
  5. Confirm the installation

Once a Channel has been installed, it will appear in the Channels list.

Removing Channels

To remove a Channel from your Server:

  1. Open Plex Web App
  2. Choose Channels in the sidebar
  3. Hover over the channel you wish to remove
  4. Click the red Remove button
  5. Confirm you wish to uninstall

Updating Channels

Channels will automatically update themselves when your Server checks for new components. This means that once an update is published for a Channel, it should be available on your Server within a few hours.

You can also use the Check for Updates button inside the Channels area in Plex Web App to check to see if there are updates available for installed Channels.

Individual Channel Preferences

Some Channels may also have their own individual preferences. For such Channels, you can access these when managing your channels in the Plex Web App. If a gear icon appears when you hover over the Channel entry once installed, that Channel offers preferences. Clicking on that gear icon opens the preferences and allows you to update them.

  1. Open Plex Web App
  2. Choose Channels in the sidebar
  3. Hover over the channel. If a gear icon appears, then that channel offers preferences
  4. Click the gear button to open the individual Channel preferences
