Monitoring Sync Status

Tip!: The Mobile Sync and Cloud Sync features requires an active Plex Pass subscription for the main Plex Media Server account.

Once you have added items to Sync, you can monitor the Sync Status using the Activity page in the Plex Web App.

Monitoring Sync Progress

You can monitor the Sync progress using the Activity page. To do this:

  • Open Plex Web App and choose the Server being used on the left if there's more than one
  • Be sure both Plex Web App and the Server are signed into your Plex Account
  • Click Activity icon
  • Click Sync

Sync Status Overview

When a Sync job is being processed by the Server, you'll see the list of jobs in the queue, and the current item being processed. In the example below:

  • The item for "Game of Thrones" has been converted and are ready to sync
  • The item "American Psycho" is being processed
  • The item for "Archer (2009) is in the queue

You can see the individual status details by clicking the item.

Sync States

When a Sync item is being processed by the Server, you'll see the list of items in the queue, and the current item being processed. There are a number of states the item will go through:

In Queue

Initially, the item will be in the queue, waiting to start. This will also happen if you have multiple sync jobs pending.

Being Converted

Once the process starts, the Plex Media Server will first create the optimized/compatible versions of the item(s). During this process, you'll see the current progress.

If there are multiple media items within the sync job, you'll see the progress for the current item and it will proceed through each item individually. You can click on the main sync job to see the Sync Status details window, which can be useful when there are multiple items in a sync job.

Waiting to be Downloaded (Mobile Sync)

After the processing completes, the sync job will be "waiting to be downloaded".

Ready to Upload (Cloud Sync)

After the processing completes, the sync job will be "ready to upload".

Upload in Progress (Cloud Sync)

As the item uploads, you'll see the current progress.

Note that the Sync Status details page doesn't show the progress for the current item.

Sync Complete

When the sync job completes its sync, it is marked as complete in Sync area.

Controlling Sync Items

You can control items being processed by the Server using the Activity > Sync page:

Edit a Sync Item

To Edit a Sync item:

  • Open the Sync page
  • Hover the mouse over the item you want to edit
  • Click edit icon in the slider that slides up
  • Make any necessary changes
  • Choose Save

Stop Syncing an Item

To delete an item being synced:

  • Open the Sync page
  • Hover the mouse over the item you want to edit
  • Click X in the slider that slides up
  • Confirm to stop synching an item

 

Removing an Item from Cloud Sync

To remove an item from Cloud Sync:

  • Open the Sync page
  • Select the Cloud Sync device on left side
  • Hover the mouse over the item you want to edit
  • Click on the X in the slider that slides up
  • Confirm to remove the item
