Troubleshooting Plex It!

Plex It! keeps prompting for sign-in

If you attempt to add a video using the Plex It! bookmarklet and you keep being told that you need to sign in, this is usually caused by a browser blocking third-party cookies. Luckily, you can usually add exceptions so that the bookmarklet can function correctly.

Firefox

Open up the Firefox "Preferences" or "Options" and go to the Privacy tab. You'll then click the Exceptions... button:

In the resulting Exceptions window, simply add appropriate entries for Plex. For new users, you should just need plex.tv, while older users who got their bookmarklet before the site change may want to play it safe and do all three here:

Chrome

First, open up your Chrome "Settings" and then click the show advanced settings... link.

Under Privacy, click the Content Settings... button:

In the new window, click the Manage Exceptions... button:

Finally, in the Exceptions window, add appropriate entries for Plex. For new users, you should just need [*.]plex.tv, while older users who got their bookmarklet before the site change will want to play it safe and also add [*.]plexapp.com:

Sorry, but if there's a video, we can't find it

The most common reason for receiving a "Sorry, but if there's a video, we can't find it" error is that the website isn't supported by the Plex It! bookmarklet. Plex It! does attempt to look for common methods of embedding videos and so it's possible it can work even for sites that aren't explicitly supported. However, not all unsupported sites will use these common methods and so videos on such sites may not be discovered.
