You can also easily download logs or the core database for your Plex Media Server.
Logs from your Plex Media Server are often crucial for investigating an issue or problem you may encounter. If you post about a problem in our community forums, you will often be requested to post your log files there.
Use the Download Logs button to have the server generate a zip file for your browser to download, which contains:
- Core server logs
- Scanner logs
- DLNA logs
- Default metadata agent logs
- Plex system framework logs
Note: It is important to be aware that the zip file will not contain logs from third-party metadata agents, plugins, or tools. Those can still be retrieved manually from the logs directory.
When you need to share logs to help investigate an issue, you can now simply grab the zip file and share that.
Using the Download Database button, your Plex Media Server will zip up the current server database for your browser to download. Depending on the size of your libraries and the power of the device running your Plex Media Server, this process may take a little while to complete and the zip file could be many megabytes in size.
Tip!: In most cases, a database is not needed when investigating an issue, so you should only provide one when specifically requested.
