For investigating some issues, we may ask you to share your logs. There are two logs generally of interest in these situations:
- Logs from the mobile app
- Logs from your Plex Media Server (usually relevant when discussing issues related to personal media)
Mobile App Logs
When using the mobile Plex app, grabbing logs from the app is easy.
Reproduce the Issue
Whatever issue you’re having, reproduce it in the app right before you go to grab the app logs. That way, that issue is among the recent activity in the logs.
Grab the Logs
- Open the user menu at the top right
- Open Settings
- Select the About section
- Choose Download Logs
- You’ll typically be prompted asking how you want to handle the file, but specifics will depend on your OS and settings
Report the Issue
Tip!: Be sure that you’ve reproduced the issue before you saved the app logs above.
Post a detailed description of the problem in the forums if you haven’t already. Include information like exact steps to reproduce, as well as the mobile app (and Plex Media Server) version you’re running (the exact version number, not just “the latest”). In the forum topic, attach the logs zip file that you saved.

Plex Media Server Logs
Your Plex Media Server keeps a log file that’s often useful: “Plex Media Server.log
”. Where exactly the file is stored depends on your operating system.
