Plugins are third-party tools that interface with your Plex Media Server to let you perform certain tasks. These could be things like managing subtitles, exporting data about your media libraries, or more.

It’s important to note that we have officially announced that we’ll be slowly removing plugin support in Plex over time. This is an intentional effort. We have already removed support for using plugins to play content as well as the ability to install a plugin through Plex Web App (plugins must be installed manually now).
