Plex allows you to rate and review any Movies, Shows, Seasons, or Episodes. Let your friends and family know what you thought of that latest blockbuster or that show you’re binging. You can also optionally flag your review as having spoilers. Reviews will appear on your Profile, your friend’s activity feeds, and title detail pages. You can control who sees your reviews and which type of reviews you can see on title detail pages.
Requirements
- Writing user reviews requires a verified email. Your email is likely already verified during account creation, but if for some reason it is not, you can send a verification email from your account page.
- Media items matched with the Plex Movie or Plex Series modern agents from a Plex Media Server library.
- User Reviews are not stored locally on the Plex Media Server, so Syncing Watch State and Ratings for your account is required. If not enabled, only the option to rate will be available on server library pages. The option will remain available on “Discover” and “Movies & Shows” details pages from our online catalog.

Writing, Editing and Deleting Reviews
While viewing reviews are available in all Plex player apps, creating user reviews are not available in our TV based apps. Please review our community guidelines before writing your first review. You can only have one review per media item.
On detail pages for movies, shows, seasons and episodes there is a “Rate and Review” button to initiate writing. If a rating has already been added, then it will just say “Add a Review”.
The writing window will display where you can rate and review. If you think your review contains spoilers, you can set that here to obscure it until clicking on the “May Contain Spoilers” button
- Reviews must:
- Be at least 7 characters long
- Not contain only numbers
This window will also remind you what your current sharing option is which you can change here. (It will change for all reviews not just the one being created)
Editing
On the detail page it will show how long ago you wrote the review. Click on this to edit the review or rating.
Deleting
To Delete a review or rating click on the button to open the review window.
There is a red Delete button to remove both the rating and review. If you only want to delete the review, then simply remove the contents of the text entry field and save.
Viewing Reviews
Plex user reviews will appear on detail, profile and activity feed screens. If the review has been set as a spoiler, it will be obscured until clicking on the “May Contain Spoilers” button.
Click on the “Ratings and Reviews” row title to view a full page of reviews for the title.
Hiding Reviews
Both Plex User reviews and Critic Reviews are shown in the details and reviews screen. You can choose which type you wish to see on those screens in your account settings at Settings>Account>Ratings and Reviews From (user reviews will still appear in Activity feed and Profile screens).
Muting or Blocking a Plex user will also make that individual’s reviews to not appear (this will affect other activities as well).

Sharing Ratings and Reviews
Who gets to see your ratings and reviews is controlled by the Ratings and Reviews privacy Setting. It can be found in Settings>Account>Account Visibility & Activity Sharing.
Note: Depending on the number of reviews you’ve written, it may take some time for changes to your privacy settings to be reflected across all of your reviews across our player apps.
When writing or editing a review it will also remind you what your current sharing option is. If you alter it will make you aware that the setting affects all ratings and reviews, not just the one you are editing.
