Library Actions

There are a number of useful tools available when managing libraries. These might be used globally (all of a server's libraries), on a single library, or on a single item within a library.

Global Library Actions

Global actions affect all libraries for the currently selected Plex Media Server. If you have only one server, they will affect that server's libraries. If you have several servers, they will affect only the currently selected server. To select a server, click its name in the sidebar.

Add a New Library

To add a new library:

  1. Click the 'add' icon button next to the server name
  2. The Add a Library pane opens

Edit Libraries

Editing a library lets you change things like the name, Scanner, Metadata Agent, etc. To do this:

  • Mouse over a library in the left sidebar
  • Click the Edit 'edit' icon button next to the library

Optimize

The Optimize option cleans up the server database from unused or fragmented data. For example, if you have deleted or added an entire library or many items in a library, you may like to optimize the database. Confirmation is given once the optimization for the server is complete.

This action is performed on the currently selected server only.

Clean Bundles

Poster images and other metadata for items in your library are kept in "bundle" packages. When you remove items from your library, these bundles aren't immediately removed. Removing these old bundles can reduce the size of your install.

This action is performed on the currently selected server only. By default, your server will automatically clean up old bundles once a week as part of Scheduled Tasks.
